BPS launches recruitment for Children and Young People and Gender task and finish group

The group will be led by an independent chair and its first task will be to produce a discussion paper regarding children, young people, gender, and psychology – a hugely important area which often attracts significant debate and discussion.

Debra Malpass, BPS Director of Research Education and Practice, said:

“We know that this is a sensitive, complex and sometimes controversial area, and the debates around children and young people and gender can often be polarising.

“We have decided to recruit for the Children, Young People and Gender workstream so we can best support professionals in this area and ensure that a strong evidence base is at the heart of these conversations.

“This is such an important area, with the focus being on the needs of children, young people and their families who require the support of psychologists. It is important that they are kept at the heart of any work going forward.

“I would encourage members with the relevant practice and research experience in this area to apply.”

Please note, recruitment for the role of Chair will be undertaken first, as the Chair will support with recruitment of other members of the group. A such, members who apply now for the group may not hear about the status of their application for a few weeks.

Apply for the role of chair, or to be a member of the new Children and Young People Gender task and finish group.
